International Magic Convention - Just Six Weeks To Go!

October 16th, 2010 - Magic Convention Guide

internationalmagic.comThe International Magic Convention at The Mermaid Theatre, London from November 26th to 28th 2010 is now only six weeks away, and since its introduction just a few short years ago the awarding of The David Berglas International Magic Award has become a highlight of the International Magic Convention weekend.

Two years ago Uri Geller was the recipient and received the Award, in person, in front of a packed audience.

Last year David Copperfield received the award live in Las Vegas via a video linkup. Each year following the presentation by David Berglas the recipient has agreed to take any questions from the audience, which has resulted in a fascinating hour of anecdotes, newly revealed facts, a great deal of humour and insight into these great performers lives.

But the big question is.. who will be the recipient this year?

The best way to find out is of course to be there!! As always, the recipient is a closely guarded secret until the presentation is made on the day.

International Magic Convention - Jim Cellini Tribute Show

September 11th, 2010 - Magic Convention Guide

JimCelliniJim Cellini was one of the truly great Street performers who forged a trail in the wake of which a whole slew of busking magicians followed.

An incredibly charismatic man both on and off stage, his style and look created an act template that is still seen across the world wherever a busking pitch is available. As he travelled the world, his skill and manner entranced fellow magicians and other performers alike, and some of those whose careers he touched and shaped gather at this years International Magic Convention at The Mermaid Theatre, London from November 26th to 28th 2010 to pay tribute to his life, which so sadly ended last year.

Artists in the Saturday afternoon show include Gazzo - perhaps the most internationally recognised busking magician of the modern day - to pay tribute to his street performing abilities; Michael Vincent to illustrate the teachings of Slydini with whom Cellini diligently studied and expounded; Richard McDougall to talk about the man and his incredible life and Johnny Fox, regular American Renaissance Fair performer and long time friend of Jim.
