FISM 2012 has already caught the eye of the mainstream press. The BBC interviewed Andrew Green about FISM 2012. The world’s best magicians will be heading to the seaside resort of Blackpool in three years’ time to take part in the 2012 World Magic Championships.

The Federation Internationale des Societes Magiques (FISM) holds the convention every three years, The Winter Gardens, tower and Grand Theatre will all host magic events in 2012

Andrew Green, who is helping to organise the magic championships, said the event would create a “great buzz” around the town, especially as 2012 is the year the Olympics are being held in the UK.

There are many different categories they will be judged on including grand illusion, stage illusion, mentallists, comedy magic. This year in the championships in Beijing we had some great ones from Germany and Switzerland. The Taiwanese, Koreans and the Japanese focus on the more visual, manipulation, kind of magic. We’ve got some great magicians in the UK like mind reader Derren Brown who’s doing some great stuff on the TV.

Eric Eswin and Domenico Dante today visited Blackpool to inspect the facilities for FISM 2012, which will be held in Blackpool 9th - 14th July 2012. BBC Radio Lancashire were there to cover the visit and spoke with Eric Eswin, President of FISM. Blackpool Magicians Club have let us know that bookings are already flooding in to Arthur Casson, Registration Officer of Blackpool Magicians’ Club, for FISM 2012.

Preparations are well under way for this feast of magic to be held in Blackpool 9th - 14th July 2012, including several major stars of magic that are already lined up to appear.

Derek Lever, Executive President of FISM 2012, and his team are determined to make the 2012 World Championships of Magic the biggest and best the world has ever seen, and we will have all the information throughout the run up to the event and during.

The conference will be held at the Blackpool Winter Gardens, the Grand Theatre, the Blackpool Tower Ballroom and the world famous Blackpool Tower Circus.

We are obviously extremely excited that Blackpool is now confirmed as the 2012 FISM venue, and that FISM will be coming to the UK. We have heard that the event will be using the Winter Gardens, the Tower, Circus and the Grand Theatre facilities.

The decision was confirmed at the FISM general assembly this afternoon and announced this evening at the banquet. Early registration cost is 450 Euros. We’ve already got it in our diary!!
