The President of the International Federation of Magical Societies, Eric Eswin has now visited Blackpool to discuss plans for FISM 2012, he commented on the fact that he felt FISM 2012 in Blackpool would be an extremely successful event.

FISM 2012 will be based around three main venues, The Opera House with a seating capacity  of 3,000, The Grand Theatre – seating capacity 1,100 and The Tower Ball Room with a seating Capacity of 4,000.

We will be covering more in the run up to the event on how the organising committee for FISM 2012 will be using these venues and making sure that attendees get the best possible experience and enjoyment of the competition.

FISM 2012 has already caught the eye of the mainstream press. The BBC interviewed Andrew Green about FISM 2012. The world’s best magicians will be heading to the seaside resort of Blackpool in three years’ time to take part in the 2012 World Magic Championships.

The Federation Internationale des Societes Magiques (FISM) holds the convention every three years, The Winter Gardens, tower and Grand Theatre will all host magic events in 2012

Andrew Green, who is helping to organise the magic championships, said the event would create a “great buzz” around the town, especially as 2012 is the year the Olympics are being held in the UK.

There are many different categories they will be judged on including grand illusion, stage illusion, mentallists, comedy magic. This year in the championships in Beijing we had some great ones from Germany and Switzerland. The Taiwanese, Koreans and the Japanese focus on the more visual, manipulation, kind of magic. We’ve got some great magicians in the UK like mind reader Derren Brown who’s doing some great stuff on the TV.

Blackpool Magicians Club have let us know that bookings are already flooding in to Arthur Casson, Registration Officer of Blackpool Magicians’ Club, for FISM 2012.

Preparations are well under way for this feast of magic to be held in Blackpool 9th – 14th July 2012, including several major stars of magic that are already lined up to appear.

Derek Lever, Executive President of FISM 2012, and his team are determined to make the 2012 World Championships of Magic the biggest and best the world has ever seen, and we will have all the information throughout the run up to the event and during.
