Rod Lavar Booked For International Magic Convention

October 29th, 2008 - Magic Convention Guide

The specialty act often steals the show at any Magic Convention, but this is almost guaranteed at this years International Magic Convention (Nov 28-30) at the Novotel, Euston, London with the booking of Rod Laver.

He is a world record holder, and beyond being an accomplished juggler he also has one of the funniest speciality acts you will ever see. He will appear in the Gala Show. Last year both Gala Shows sold out and  with tickets selling fast it is recommended that if you’re planning on going to the Convention this year you book as soon as possible.

David KaplanDavid Kaplan, who created such a hit at the recent combined IBM/SAM Convention in Louisville has been added to the bill for this years International Magic Convention (Shaw Theatre & Novotel Complex, London on November 28-30). Illusion, music, juggling and dead pan comedy collide in his vaudeville spectacle.

Peter Samelson Announced for International Convention 2008

August 30th, 2008 - Magic Convention Guide

Peter SamelsonAnother first for the International Magic Convention this year (Nov 28-30 at The Shaw theatre London) with the booking of Peter Samelson, a man who insists he doesn’t do magic, just helps people see it.

He combines his twin passions of magic and theater – to carve out a unique place in the world of show business.  This “soft-spoken conceptualist of sorcery” (The New York Times) has created two solo off-Broadway shows (The Magician and PaperWork,) and designed illusions for theatre, film and television. Both his ground breaking, and now hard to find, book “Theatrical Close Up”, and his contribution to Jeff McBride’s tome “Mystery School” showcases his abilities as part illusionist, part philosopher to blend simplicity and sophistication as he provokes thought and creates moments of wonder.

The mid 1990’s saw Peter join Michael Chaut to create Monday Night Magic, which, now in its eleventh year, is the longest running Magic Show in New York. Having performed atop the Great Wall of China, in the jungles of Bali and the universities of Tokyo, this will be Peter’s first UK Convention appearance and he will be lecturing and performing in both the Stage and Close Up Gala. Registration details on the International Magic Convention Site.

This adds to the stunning line up for this year convention which includes, Rafael, John Lovick, Richard Turner, Andrew Goldenhursh, and Richard Kaufman.
