It rained for most of the morning but that didn’t ‘dampen’ our spirits. On the contrary, it got rid of the unbearably hot weather and provided us with an excuse to hang out and show each other card tricks. As if we needed another excuse!

After we finished eating breakfast (including freshly baked muffins) we headed off to card class. One of the most popular activities at camp is our daily card classes, led by some of the best card workers on the planet- Lee Asher, Aaron Fisher, Shawn Farquhar, Steven Kline, Eric Lecleric, Wayne Houchin, Dan & Dave Buck, and others. Anyone can learn new moves and tricks from a book or DVD but only at camp can you get one-on-one with the guys who wrote those books, starred in those DVDs, and get the REAL secrets that make magic work. These classes are, for many of us, the highlight of camp.

The card classes came to an end just as the weather began to clear up, and we all headed to the beach for some swimming, some juggling, some beach volleyball and just some hanging out in general. It’s a blast having the entire camp together, young and old, and watching them hang out and spending time with each other. There are no cliques, no exclusion- just sharing, laughter and amazement. It’s all about being inclusive!

Once we dried off from our swim and changed into our ‘street’ clothes we began our electives. Different electives are offered by different people each day and today we had a bunch of cool options- rope magic with Marc Hache, a lecture on success with Wayne Houchin, learning all the nuances of the Losing Control with Lee Asher, flourishing with the Buck twins, the classic shift, ala Erdnase, with Aaron Fisher, and a bunch of other fun ones. From there we headed off to Performance Workshop, which gives the kids the chance to get on stage and learn things from pros, things they couldn’t learn on their own… unless they were willing to do it over the course of twenty years of performing. Today we spent time on stage blocking, projecting voices, and introductions. Even seasoned pros learnt something new!

Finally the day ended with an evening show. Steven Klein and Dusty, Dan Trommater, Eric LeCleric and Shawn McMaster rocked the house with animatronics, crazy card revelations (one involving a spandex superman suit!) and a very funny bill in lemon that taught us all more about Star Trek then we ever needed to know!

It was an awesome day but now its time for a well deserved sleep. Night!
Wait! There’s been a surprise event!

Everyone was invited to a beach party (which was actually held at the mess hall due to the rain) that had live music from Dan “Amazing” McLean, delicious food, and dancing. Finally we headed to our cabins- tired, happy, and looking forward to tomorrow’s activities.
