South Tyneside International Magic Festival - First UK Lectures, New Lectures and Top Names

More name have been released for the South Tyneside International Magic Festival which takes place Friday 11th - Sunday 13th March 2011.

This year there will be a number of ‘first times’ and a growing list of top talent appearing.

Jason Latimer (USA) with his First UK lecture, Paul Vigil (USA), again a first UK appearance, David Stone (France) presenting his BRAND New lecture, and top talent, Nicholas Einhorn (UK), Norbert Ferre (France), Andrew Van Buren (UK), and Gary Dunn (UK)

With 17 international titles and awards under his belt, including three FISM Awards (World Champion Close Up Magic, FISM Award for Best Invention and Design, and ‘Grand Prix’ World Champion of Magic), Jason will be presenting two different spots on stage including the act he used to win the Siegfried & Roy Masters of the Impossible title with at the World Magic Seminar in Las Vegas, and his astonishing FISM Grand Prix Act using his clear Cups & Balls.

In addition Jason, will present his ‘Be a Magician with a Wide Stance’ lecture. This is so much more than a lecture – it’s a discussion that allows you to pick the mind of a magic creator. It’s a discussion that addresses anything and everything, including creating, building, performing, routine design, contests, his illusion show, his machine shop, his consulting for Sony Pictures special effects, his involvement with design firms, tech firms, event companies, universities, charities, business formats… and so on… and how it all comes together under the banner of “being a magician.”

Paul Vigil ~ USA First UK appearance

Paul Vigil is one of the most mesmerizing performers in the world. Paul has established himself as one of the finest performers in America’s entertainment capital. His mentors have been among the “Who’s Who of Magic Legends”, including Channing Pollock, Johnny Thompson, Eugene Burger, Armando Lucero, and Paul Harris.

Paul continues to bring his unique brand of wonder and astonishment to intelligent audiences around the world. His cerebral approach has dazzled audiences at every major casino on the legendary Las Vegas Strip. As the featured performer, Paul has enjoyed multiple standing ovations at his sold-out shows at the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood. His intellectually stimulating performances have even attracted Nobel Laureates. Further, Paul has appeared on several hit television shows, including the Emmy award-winning Penn & Teller’s “Bullsh!t” and multiple performances on “Hocus Pocus”, hosted by Fielding West and Teresa Livingstone.
Because of Paul’s cutting-edge, creative contributions he has been showered with multiple nominations and awards, including the celebrated “Magic Trick of the Year” award.

David Stone ~ France With a BRAND New lecture

David started working in Saint-Tropez at some of the most prestigious restaurants of the Riviera, including 7 years in La Voile Rouge, an amazing beach restaurant where he honed his craft.

Because of his videos and a good sense of comedy, Stone gained recognition in the world of professional magicians. Since 1999, he has performed his lecture on the art of Table Hopping at magic conventions in more than 19 countries and is one of the most famous French magicians outside his country.

His encounter on 2001 with magician and DVD producer Jean-Luc Bertrand produced a successful partnership that has yielded several short films and magic DVDs. Their first co-production, a short movie, won the 1st prize at the first ever Magic Film Festival in Las Vegas (2006).

In 2003, at the FFFF convention - Fechter’s Finger-Flicking Frolic, the most prestigious gathering of close-up magicians in the world, David was voted as the Most Valuable Performer.

His most recent book (2005) ‘Close-up: The real secrets of magic” is a best-seller in France and was sold out in less than 15 days after its release. The DVD “The Real Secrets Of Magic” (2006) adapted from this book was nominated Best Magic DVD 2006 by Genii Magazine (US), Magie Magazine (DE) and over 14,000 copies were sold in 13 months.

In August 2006, David won the 3rd prize at the World Championships of Magic (FISM) in Stockholm, Sweden (Micro-Magic - FISM Award 2006) and was voted in April 2008 the TMW Award for Best Magician 2008.

In 2010 the FFFF convention voted David Stone as Guest of Honour for FFFF 2012. David becomes the second French magician to receive this honour in 40 years.

Nicholas Einhorn ~ UK

Nicholas is a “Gold Star” member of The Inner Magic Circle with over 15 years of performing experience.
He has been voted “The Magic Circle Close-up Magician of the Year” twice (1996 & 2002) and has been honoured with the prestigious title “The Magic Circle Centenary Close-up Magician” during their 100th birthday celebrations.

Nick has entertained audiences across the world. He is one of the UK’s most sought after magicians and is a feature act on board some of the world’s finest cruise ships.

Nick has made many TV appearances and is the author of several top selling magic books including “The Art of Magic & Sleight of Hand” and “Magical Illusions”. They have collectively sold over 500,000 copies worldwide.
As a consultant and magic advisor Nicholas has created the illusions and special effects for several stage and screen productions.

Nicholas also designs, develops and markets magic effects for use by the magic fraternity (Pro-Flite, In-Flight, Spooked …) and is regularly invited to give lectures internationally.
Many of his illusions have been purchased and performed by magicians all over the world including some of the most established names in magic including Paul Daniels and David Copperfield.

Gary Dunn ~ UK
Gary will be presenting the Children’s Show and Lecture entitled Entertaining with Nothing…Almost! How to entertain with virtually no props. Gary has a wealth of experience in holiday camps but there’s a place for some of his ideas in everyone’s show

Norbert Ferre ~ France

Born in 1975 in Marseilles (France), Norbert Ferré discovered conjuring by accident at the age of 11, it was love at first sight. A passion that will always last.

Having finished studies in psychology in June 2000, Norbert was named by his peers, vice-champion of the world in slight of hand magic at the 21st world congress of magic (FISM) held in Lisbon.
In September of the same year, Norbert was the first French guest of honour at the international convention organised by the prestigious Tenyo company of Tokyo.

In December 2001, the famous private London club “The Magic Circle” attributed him a “Member of the Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star”.
In January 2002, his peers awarded him a “Golden Mandrake” for outstanding performances in the art of Magic. During the same year Norbert was an advisor for magical effects in different French blockbuster Movies.

Having travelled to more than 65 countries, Norbert competed in Den Hague, Holland for the world Magic Congress held every three years. Norbert made it to Magic’s hall of fame when he received the 1st prize in manipulation as well as the most coveted distinction in the world: Grand prix, World Champion of Magic 2003.

From Sydney to Las Vegas, Monte Carlo to New York, the child within him lives a dream that will be shared with all those who come to see him performing in the CRAZY HORSE de Paris.
