Every year the UK’s only close up only magic convention The Session sells out. The Session is unlike many other conventions, and it’s one of our favourite magic conventions.
The Session is a conference for serious close-up magicians, where you’ll learn the true secrets of performing amazing close-up magic from some of the best in the industry.
The variety of workshops, lectures, parties and plenty of time to session (of course) has meant that its always sold out quickly, and has attracted some of the top names, not only to appear, but also to attend. The Session is not just a conference; it is a learning experience like no other in magic.
We’re very pleased to announce that The Session 2011 will take place on January 15th -16th 2011 at The Holiday Inn, Crest Way, Barnwood, Gloucester. GL4 3RX
The first few names of what should be again a fantastic line have been announced this week:
Headlining the lineup is Darwin Ortiz, magician, gambling expert, and author. Known to the public as the world’s foremost expert on card cheating. To magicians, we know him as so much more. Ortiz is one of magic’s intellectuals, and he has authored four sleight-of-hand collections filled with inventive, smart magic.
Denis Behr is known in sleight-of-hand circles as one of the finest technicians alive. He garnered attention by posting youtube videos of sleights that even expert magicians thought impossible. He has lectured all over Europe and the US in support of his first book, Handcrafted Card Magic, and is at his best when performing close-up magic, surrounded by an enthusiastic crowd.
Luke Jermay, a mentalist-phenom, bursting onto the scene by challenging everythign mentalists hold sacred. He developed new methods and presentations for classic tricks, and presented the mentalist community with a shocking and brilliant arsenal of original material. Having had his own mentalism show on the Las Vegas strip, he will bring a brand new lecture to The Session 2011
Pit Hartling first gained international recognition for his role in the Flicking Fingers, the ten-group magic sensation that took FISM and the the world by storm. Pit emerged with “Heinz,” an hilarious magic act where he played a dopey but lovable German close-up magician. Having since toured the world performing as himself, the highly intelligent, innovative card magician, he will also bring his close up to The Session 2011
