10th Symposium (The British Close Up Magic Symposium)
October 5th, 2011 by Magic Convention Guide| January 8, 2012 |
Mark Leveridge’s ’The Symposium‘ has, since its inception in 1989 included top acts presented in ideal viewing conditions on a well organised and highly enjoyable day, a unique day with an atmosphere and aura all of its own, an aura built on reputation and quality.
On Sunday January 8th 2012, Mark and his team will be offering one final Symposium to allow those who have been regulars in the past to return one more time, and to enable others, who may have missed the previous 9 conventions, the chance to savour and enjoy the unique Symposium experience.
The venue is Redwood Hotel and Country Club, Beggar Bush Lane, Bristol BS8 3TG, a comfortable 4 star hotel that is just a 10 minute easy drive from junction 19 on the M5. The hotel is not actually in Bristol itself, but is situated in the countryside outside the city, and it has plenty of free car parking. Conventioneers wishing to stay at the Redwood Hotel will benefit from a special B&B rate if they mention the Symposium.
The lectures and performances will be taking place in a tiered auditorium which is normally used by the hotel as their in-house cinema. The seating is comfortable and will enable us to use the cinema screen to project close up camera shots of the action to ensure everyone can see every detail. The seats will be numbered, and when you register you will be allocated a specific seat, thus removing the need to ‘camp’ in a favourite spot or scramble for a seat before each event. We want you to relax and enjoy your day!
The line up for the day will include two close up gala shows, three lectures, a forum discussion and a special Symposium Finale. Each registrant will receive as part of their ticket price tea/coffee and pastries on arrival, an excellent 2 course meal at lunchtime (the food is very good in this hotel) including a glass of wine, and a high tea meal late afternoon.
Lectures already confirmed are:
Boris Wild - the first UK presentation of his new lecture ‘Creativity And Impact’
Wayne Fox - offering his lecture on commercial close up called ‘Out Foxed’
Mark Leveridge - ‘Going Walkabout’, the full lecture on professional close up for mix and mingle situations
Gala Show spots will also be performed by Wayne Fox, James Prince, Boris Wild and Dave Forrest, with one more name still to be announced
The Discussion Forum will have a panel of Mark Leveridge, Boris Wild and Dave Forrest
In the room adjoining the auditorium there will be tables with close up mats for sessioning, plus magazines to read and room to mix and mingle with the other Symposium attendees. It’s a great opportunity to network, to meet old friends and make new ones.
Each registrant will also receive a CD containing an E-Book featuring contributions from all the performers at the 10th Symposium, and also on the disc will be the complete Symposium Collection E-Book (worth £35) which has all the material from the previous 9 conventions as well as lots of extra content.
It’s going to be a great day dedicated to close up, featuring acts that will aim to maintain the high standards of previous events, and organised by the experienced Symposium team who have brought you such fun in the past. Find out more at on The Symposium website
