The Rudy Coby Experiment is back on the 23rd October 2010 at the El Ray Theatre in Los Angeles with more ‘Magic vs Science’, and more special guests. It will also include the premier of some new illusions and material he couldn’t perform at the Magic Castle earlier this year.

This is the first Magic show organised through Goldenvoice, and its Rudys ONLY West Coast show in 2010.

It was great to see Rudy Lecture, and even though there were some technical problems with getting sound working on his video at the start, really, no one was worried, People came to see Rudy Lecture, and sound or no sound it was great to have him back. After a huge boom from the sound engineers, everyone was definitely awake and Rudy started to talk about his magic and how his act was created.

Rudy said that ‘If you have a three minute act, you can travel the world’, and all of his magic is created in three minute segments, and what’s required for those three minutes ? Characters and Presentation.

He also talked about his ‘creative room’, which he tries to fill with things that inspire him, not just magic, but anything that influences or inspires you, be they comic books, music, paintings.

He used a number of videos to show what he was trying to put across which worked well. Rudy also talked about prototyping effects, and specifically creating body parts using nothing more than cling film and sellotape – Look up ‘Tape Sculpture’ on the internet if you want to find out how to do this in more detail.

It was obvious that Rudy had a huge amount of ideas and thoughts in his head that he wanted to impart to the audience, on costume changes, building your character, your effects, and just to create your act.

‘Magic Dave’ made an appearance, much to the delight of the audience.. and our favorite quote from Rudy had to be.. ‘Cardboard is the way to go…’

A very entertaining lecture from one of magics most entertaining characters.

We talk with Rudy about what he’s been up to, his new lecture, Gala Act, and Close-up show for Blackpool, why he came back to magic, and why you should come to see his lecture this weekend, why David Copperfield and David Blaine tracked him down, and just how excited he is about appearing at Blackpool.

Rudy Coby has been out of the magic scene for a long time, but thankfully has decided to come back, and one of the first stops on the coolest return in history will be the Blackpool Magic Convention in February.

We can exclusively reveal that Rudy will be not only performing in the Gala Show, he’ll be performing his new lecture AND performing close-up, Rudy will be performing Close-up for the first time in front of Magicians in over twenty years.

With the line up for Blackpool reading like a Who’s Who in Magic, this is NOT an event you want to miss.

The French FFAP Convention takes place next month, September 25th through to 28th 2008 in Aix-Les-Bains, France.

Incorporating the French Championships of magic, a host of participants eager to present their routines for FISM in Beijing next year, as well as what looks like a real bumper of a line up in lectures and shows.

Probably standing out from the crowd (and its a good crowd!) are two slots from Rudy Coby, booked to give a talk and perform in the stage show. Although top of the bill is also a world exclusive lecture on quick change by David and Dania, along with performances from Carl Cloutier, Junge Junge, Yves Doumerque, Boris Wild, Otto Wesley and more…
