EMC 2012 – Session 9 – Mike Caveney – Another Lost Illusion Explained
July 29th, 2012 by Magic Convention GuideLuis de Matos welcomed us back to sadly the final session in the Essential Magic Conference Trilogy.
Mike Caveney talked about the Magic History Conference, and how he decided to reproduce Paul Valadon ‘Well I’m’ illusion, where a lady vanishes from a table top.
He talked about how during the research he used ask alexander to look for any information on the illusions (and as an EMC member you’ll get one months access to!)
The actual original method of the ‘Well I’m’ illusion is fairly simple, but as Mike explained, it wasnt a great workable method on a real stage. Mike continued to talk about he improved the original method to be workable on stage, and for a modern audience.
We obviously wont talk about the method here, but the session was a great history lesson and insight into historic illusions.
A totally captivating talk again from Mike.
